The films we screen cover broad range of approches, whether first-person documentary, archive or narrative fiction, and often touch on cultural, social and political aspects of experience of Palestine/Israel, of diasporas, as well as stories that cross national and historical boundaries. To date we have hosted some wonderful guest speakers, leading audience discussions including on themes relating to social justice, cross-cultural entounters and the role of film media. We aim for these evenings to be inspiring and enjoyable, always set in the sociable Passing Clouds venue.
The name? Our event is named after the Nakba (‘Catastrophe’) the dispossession 750,000 Palestinian men women and children who were driven out and prevented from returning to their homes and lands by the newly founded state of Israel, in violation of International Law. PSC campaigns against the continuing Nakba today.
